City Winery Chicago Presents Nicholas Tremulis & The Prodigals live on April 12th at 7:30 PM. Closing in on 40 years as a recording artist, Nicholas Tremulis has recorded over 10 albums starting in 1986 on Island Records and has played and recorded with a trainload of legendary artists, such as Keith Richards, Billy Corgan, David Amran, Marianne Faithful, Richard Hell, Kurt Elling, Ian Hunter, David Johansen, Maceo Parker, Ronnie Spector, Jim Lauderdale, Hubert Sumlin, Mavis Staples, Ivan Neville and Wilco to name a few. Always rocking, surprising and challenging himself, this is one of the must-see live artists Chicago has to offer. Tremulis also helmed a 5 year charity concert, which were entitled The Frist Waltz Through the Fifth, raising over a quarter of a million dollars for Neon Street For Homeless Youth. He has also been a music professor at Chicago’s, Columbia College for the past 12 years. Nicholas Tremulis And The Prodigals released a widely heralded album in 2023 entitled, “Rarified World” on Vinyl, CD and all streaming services which continues to get abundant spins around the world. Darryl Jones of the Rolling Stones calls it, “A true masterpiece from top to bottom.” Nick is also in three side projects: Candy Golde, with Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee, Bun E. Carlos,(Cheap Trick) John Stirratt, (Wilco) and Rick Rizzo (11th Dream Day).The Fauntleroys with Alejandro Escovedo, Ivan Julian (Richard Hell, Mathew Sweet) and Linda Pitmon and the Chi-Town Social Club with Darryl Jones (Rolling Stones) Vince Wiburn Jr. (Miles Davis) and Shawn Christopher (Chaka Kahn). A sought-after film composer of over 40 films, Nick won an Emmy for his scoring work for a 2015 documentary on Italian architect, Carlo Bontempi. Nick also co-helmed the radio show, The Eclectic Company, on WXRT for 5 years. He’s currently workshopping and gigging with his new group, Nicholas Tremulis and the Prodigals , for a forthcoming album, “Love And Terror”. His most ambitious work to date. Nick has also joined forces with Collaboraction, Chicago’s theatre for social change, to helm their new youth music program mentoring students from middle school to high school in underserved communities on writing, recording and performing original music.
